What are Champion Life Groups?
Champion Life Group is a place to call 'home'
That is one of the reasons why we meet in homes. The CLG is a place you can "come as you are" and be safe. In your CLG, all participants are valued. You are becoming a part of a community. What you say in your CLG, stays in your CLG! It is important that as you worship and fellowship, study and grow together, that you also understand that our lives are private, and to share with one another openly is a great risk. However, it is a risk we all take and can safely venture to do, when we are ready, knowing that we all have agreed to maintain the confidence of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Champion Life Group is a place to 'worship'
Where two or more are gathered in His name, there the Lord is in your midst! You will set aside a part of your time together in CLG, to worship. You may sing a hymn, use contemporary DVD worship materials, read Psalms and other Scriptures, or perhaps just having a time of silence to focus on God's presence. Your CLG is a place you can worship as the Holy Spirit leads.
Champion Life Group is a place of 'study'
While you may use other books and resources to guide your study, the ultimate resource is the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible is the center of your time together as you take it and apply it to your daily walk with Jesus Christ.
Champion Life Group is a place of 'prayer'
Praying together and lifting each other up is very important. In your life you are so stressed and busy, you need the support of friends! You will spend time praising and requesting prayer for yourself, other, and each other.
Champion Life Group is a place of 'fellowship'
Sometimes you need to just spend time with friends. You need a place to share stories and have fun. CLG is just that place! Sometimes you may have meals together in your CLG, other times you may be fasting together. Beverages and small snacks may be available. No matter the menu, you will have time to just talk, relax, and be in community with your friend.
Champion Life Group is a place that 'produces action'
CLG's are a part of a missional church, the Ashland Church of the Nazarene, and we do not want to become a "holy huddle". While you will grow together and minister together, you will also want to spread your light and joy of Christ to others within and outside of our larger church community. While some members (perhaps you) are not regular attendees of the ACN, you are still invited to join us for mission projects and other CLG activities that reaches out to help others.
Champion Life Group is a place for 'growth':
CLG's are designed to help build community where you can spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically grow in relationship to Jesus Christ. You will spend up to perhaps a year together. It is important the CLG's not grow larger than 12, as to maintain confidence and keep and open feeling for sharing and personal interaction. It is in the best interest of each one of you and your valued friends to have the opportunity to share and be heard. If there are too many people, this simply can not be. If and when the time comes, it is not a defeat, but a victory, to multiply your groups. New CLG's will form so you and our church at large, can reach more and more for Him.
